What happens if I run out of credits mid-task?

Nothing is lost. A bank statement extraction pauses and resumes on its own once you have credits again; a document scan is refused up front rather than half-processed.

Nothing is lost either way — but what you see depends on what you were doing.

Bank statement extraction pauses and resumes

If an extraction reaches the end of your available credits partway through, SparkReceipt automatically pauses the extraction and sends you an email so you know what happened. Everything extracted up to that point is preserved — the statement sits at "Extraction paused — credits exhausted" rather than failing.

The paused extraction resumes on its own once credits are available again, from either direction:

  • You buy an extra credit pack — the extraction picks up again right away.
  • Your monthly credits renew — a background check finds the paused work and restarts it, usually within about half an hour.

You don't need to re-upload the statement or restart anything by hand.

Document scanning stops before it starts

Scanning behaves differently: SparkReceipt checks the cost before processing, so a scan is never left half-done. If both your monthly document quota and your credits are exhausted, the upload is refused with an error saying the quota and credits are depleted, and no document is created.

This is deliberate — a partially scanned receipt would be worse than no receipt. Top up your credits, or wait for the monthly reset, and upload again.

Getting credits again

Buy an extra credit pack from Subscription & Billing in the web app. Extra credits never expire and are used once your monthly renewable credits are gone. Renewable credits renew every month.
