Yes. When you scan or upload a receipt, SparkReceipt stores the original file alongside the data extracted from it. The original is preserved exactly as you uploaded it, so you can always go back and look at the source document.

Where the files live

Original files are stored in AWS S3 in Stockholm, Sweden, with an encrypted backup in Frankfurt, Germany. They're encrypted both in transit and at rest. See How secure is SparkReceipt for the full security picture.

Supported file formats

You can upload receipts in:

  • Images: JPG, PNG, HEIC (iPhone), WebP
  • PDF
  • Documents: CSV, Excel, Word, HTML

Maximum file size is 24 MB per upload. See File format and max file size for upload for the complete list and per-section recommendations.

Where you can view and download them

  • Web app — open any document to see the original image or PDF in the document preview, with thumbnail and full-resolution download.
  • Mobile app (iOS and Android) — open a document to see and download the original file.
  • Bulk export — use the reports feature to export receipts and their files as PDF, CSV, or XLSX. See Can I download all my documents from SparkReceipt?.

How long they're kept

Receipts and their original files are kept for at least 10 years, and remain accessible even if you cancel your subscription. See How long does SparkReceipt store my receipts? for retention details.
