SparkReceipt stores your receipts for a minimum of 10 years, so your financial records stay available when you need them. Cancelling a subscription never deletes anything — only deleting your account does.
If you cancel your subscription
Cancelling only stops the billing — it does not remove your data. You keep full access until the end of the period you have already paid for. What happens after that depends on how your account was created:
- Accounts registered on the web switch to read-only mode once the paid period (or trial) ends. You can still sign in, browse all your receipts and documents, and export everything — only adding new documents pauses. Recurring automations and automatic scanning of connected Gmail or IMAP inboxes stop right away; uploads, scanning, email forwarding, and connected Outlook inboxes keep drawing on any extra scanning credits you previously purchased and pause once those run out (or straight away if you have none). Your data is always yours, and subscribing again restores full access exactly as you left it.
- Accounts created in the mobile apps, and older accounts from before the free-trial model, revert to the free plan and can keep viewing and exporting documents. See Can I downgrade to the free plan? for details.
Your records are always exportable — you can download everything as PDF, CSV, or XLSX whether or not your subscription is active, with no time limit. See Can I download all my documents from SparkReceipt?
If you delete your account
Deleting your account is a separate, irreversible action. Once you confirm deletion, your receipts, documents, and account history are permanently erased and cannot be recovered.
If you only want to stop paying, cancel the subscription instead. For full step-by-step instructions on permanent deletion (and how the flow differs on web and mobile), see Deleting your account and data.
Always export your records before deleting your account if you think you may need them for taxes or audits.
