You cancel your SparkReceipt subscription in the same place you bought it — the web app, the Apple App Store, or Google Play. Cancelling stops future charges but does not end your access immediately: you keep your paid features until the end of the period you have already paid for (or until your trial ends, if you are on a trial). After that, you can still sign in, browse all your documents, and export everything — only adding new documents pauses. Your receipts and documents are never deleted when you cancel, and subscribing again restores full access — see What happens to my receipts and data if I cancel my account?

Not sure where you subscribed?

  • If you upgraded in your browser and paid by card, your subscription is billed on the web through Paddle or Stripe.
  • If you subscribed on an iPhone or iPad, it is billed through your Apple Account (App Store).
  • If you subscribed on an Android phone or tablet, it is billed through Google Play.

If you subscribed on the web

You must be signed in as the account owner to cancel — other roles do not see the cancellation option.

  1. Open SparkReceipt in your browser and go to Settings.
  2. Open the Subscription & Billing tab.
  3. What you see next depends on the billing provider shown with your plan:
    • Paddle: click Cancel subscription below your plan. A short dialog asks why you are cancelling — answering is optional. Click Submit feedback and cancel, or Just cancel without feedback.
    • Stripe: click Manage your subscription to open the secure Stripe billing portal, and cancel the subscription there.
  4. You will see a confirmation with the exact date your subscription ends. Until that date you keep full access to all paid features.

If you are still on a free trial, the same steps apply — the dialog is titled End your free trial instead. You keep trial access until the trial's end date, and your card is not charged.

Changed your mind?

If you cancelled but the end date has not passed yet, you can undo the cancellation. Go back to Settings → Subscription & Billing and click Resume subscription. Your plan continues as before and billing resumes on the normal schedule.

If you subscribed on your iPhone or iPad (App Store)

App Store subscriptions can only be cancelled through Apple — SparkReceipt cannot cancel them for you, and there is no cancel button in the SparkReceipt app for Apple-billed plans.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap your name at the top.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Select SparkReceipt, then tap Cancel Subscription.

The subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period. For full, up-to-date steps, see Apple's own guide: How to cancel a subscription from Apple.

If you subscribed on Android (Google Play)

Google Play subscriptions are cancelled through the Play Store:

  1. In the SparkReceipt app, open the menu and tap Subscription, then tap Manage subscription — this takes you straight to your SparkReceipt subscription in the Play Store. (You can also get there manually: open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.)
  2. Select SparkReceipt and tap Cancel subscription, then follow the on-screen steps.

The subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period. For full, up-to-date steps, see Google's guide: Cancel, pause, or change a subscription on Google Play.

What happens after you cancel

  • You keep all paid features until the end of the billing period (or trial) you have already paid for. The exact end date is shown when you cancel.
  • Your data is never deleted. All receipts, documents, and records stay safely stored, and subscribing again restores full access to everything.
  • After the paid period ends, the account switches to read-only mode: you can still sign in, browse everything, and export it all with no time limit — only adding new documents pauses. Recurring automations and automatic scanning of connected Gmail or IMAP inboxes stop right away; uploads, scanning, email forwarding, and connected Outlook inboxes keep drawing on any extra scanning credits you previously purchased and pause once those run out. Accounts created in the mobile apps (and older accounts) instead revert to a free plan with monthly credits. See Can I downgrade to the free plan? for the details.
  • You can export your records any time, before or after the end date — reports, spreadsheets, and downloads all keep working. See Can I download all my documents from SparkReceipt?
  • If you were charged when you did not expect to be, see How to request a refund.

Subscription managed somewhere else?

If the web app shows a note that your subscription is managed by the App Store or Google Play, you subscribed on mobile and need to follow the Apple or Google steps above. Likewise, the mobile app shows an External Subscription notice when your plan was purchased on the web — in that case, cancel from the web app in a desktop browser.

If you purchased lifetime access through AppSumo, there is nothing to cancel — the deal does not renew or charge you again. Contact support@sparkreceipt.com for any changes to a lifetime deal.
