When you sign up on the SparkReceipt website, you start with a free trial of the plan you pick (Pro or Elite). The trial length is shown before you start, and the pricing page lists it as a 7-day free trial. You add a payment method at checkout to start the trial, and the first payment is taken automatically when the trial ends. Cancel before the end date and you are not charged.
Each account gets one free trial. There is no setting or button to extend a trial.
What happens during the trial
- You get the full plan you chose for the length of the trial.
- In the web app, Account settings → Subscription & Billing shows your plan with a Trial badge and Your trial ends on followed by the date. The mobile app shows Free trial ends on with the date on its Subscription screen.
- You can change the plan, billing period or seats during the trial. Changes made during the trial are not charged. Your first payment at the end of the trial is for the plan you have then.
When the trial ends
If you haven't cancelled, the trial turns into a paid subscription on the end date and the payment method you added is charged for the first billing period. After that, the badge on Subscription & Billing changes from Trial to Active.
So if you entered your card when you started and the page still says Trial, that is expected: the first charge happens on the trial's end date. See Why does my account still show Trial, Free or a payment problem after I paid? if the date has passed.
Buying the Founder pack during a trial is the one exception. It ends the trial on the spot and charges the first full billing period right away, and the plan dialog says so before you confirm.
How to end the trial without paying
Cancel before the end date. On the web, open Account settings → Subscription & Billing and click Cancel subscription. The dialog is titled End your free trial. You keep trial access until the end date and your card is not charged. Only the account owner sees this option. Full steps: How to cancel your subscription.
When a website trial ends without a subscription, the account switches to read-only mode. Nothing is deleted: you can still sign in, browse and export everything, and only adding new documents pauses. Subscribing later restores full access. See Can I downgrade to the free plan?
Can I get a longer trial?
There's no way to extend a trial yourself. If you need more time to decide, write to us through the in-app chat or at support@sparkreceipt.com and tell us what you are still testing. We'll help you get the most out of the time you have, and the team can answer setup questions so you can test the parts that matter to you sooner.
You can also cancel and decide later. Your documents stay in the account, and subscribing again brings everything back as you left it.
Trials in the iPhone and Android apps
A trial started in the iPhone or Android app is an App Store or Google Play free trial. The app shows the end date before you confirm (Free until the date, then the renewal price). Apple or Google charges you when it ends, and you cancel it in the App Store or Google Play, see How to cancel your subscription.
Trials without a card (QuickBooks App Store signups)
If you signed up through the QuickBooks App Store, your trial may run without a payment method. When you're ready, open Account settings → Subscription & Billing and click Subscribe. Paying starts your subscription right away and replaces the free trial, and you keep everything you set up.
