You change your plan in the web app under Account settings → Subscription & Billing. Upgrading from Pro to Elite, switching between monthly and yearly billing, and adding or removing seats all take effect right away. You don't lose what you already paid: SparkReceipt's payment provider, Paddle, prorates the change. Moving up, you pay the price difference for the rest of your current billing period. Moving down, the unused amount becomes a credit on your next invoice or invoices. There is no cash refund for the unused part of the old plan.
Before you confirm, the dialog shows exactly what will be charged now and what the next billing cycle will cost.
This applies to subscriptions bought on our website. App Store and Google Play subscriptions change in the store, see below.
Upgrade from Pro to Elite
- Open Account settings → Subscription & Billing.
- Under Current subscription, click Upgrade to Elite. (You can also click Adjust plan and choose Elite under Subscription plan.)
- Check the Billing interval and Total seats.
- Read the summary. Plan change (prorated) is the difference for the rest of your current billing period, and Charged now in total is what you pay today. Next billing cycle shows your next regular charge.
- Click Update subscription.
The charge goes to the payment method already on your subscription, with no new checkout.
Example: you paid for a year of Pro and want Elite halfway through. You are not refunded for Pro and you don't pay for a full year of Elite. The remaining half-year of Pro counts toward the price of Elite, and you pay the difference for the months left until your renewal date. The dialog shows the amount before you confirm.
Upgrade from Free, or after your plan ended
Click Upgrade (or Resubscribe if your plan has expired) on Subscription & Billing. In the Upgrade your plan dialog, pick the plan, the billing interval and the number of seats, add a discount code if you have one, and click Continue to checkout. The price is confirmed at checkout, including tax.
Switch between monthly and yearly billing
Click Adjust plan and change the Billing interval. Moving to yearly charges the prorated difference now. Moving to monthly turns the unused part of your year into a credit on your next invoices.
Add or remove seats
Under Usage, next to Seats in use, click Add or remove seats and set Total seats. You can't go below the number of seats your team is using. To go lower, remove users first. Some plans also start at a minimum number of seats, and the seat picker doesn't go below it. See Inviting new users / adding new seats.
Changing plan during the free trial
Changes during a free trial are applied straight away and not charged. Your first payment at the end of the trial is for the plan you have then. See How does the free trial work?
Who can change the plan
The Subscription & Billing page and its plan buttons are for the account's Admins and Owner, and for Accountants whose Accountant permissions are set to Admin. Only the Owner can cancel. If you're a Member or Contributor, ask an Admin or the Owner.
Why do I only see one plan?
The dialog lists the plans offered to your account. If the plan you want isn't in the list, contact us at support@sparkreceipt.com.
Can I try Elite before paying for it?
There's no separate demo mode. If your account hasn't had a free trial, start one for Elite (see How does the free trial work?). If it has, you can upgrade, and moving back to Pro later turns the unused part into a credit on your next invoices.
If your plan is billed through Stripe
Older web subscriptions billed through Stripe don't have the Adjust plan button. Use Manage your subscription on Subscription & Billing for billing details, and contact support@sparkreceipt.com to change the plan.
If you subscribed in the iPhone or Android app
App Store and Google Play subscriptions can't be changed from the web app. In the mobile app, open the side menu, tap Subscription, then Edit subscription and pick a plan under Other plans (the Owner sees this menu item). Apple or Google works out what is charged or credited for the time left in your period. Some changes, usually moves to a lower plan, start when the current period ends, and the app shows them as a Pending Change.
You can also manage the subscription directly in the store, see Apple's How to cancel a subscription from Apple or Google's Cancel, pause, or change a subscription on Google Play.
